Gravel biking routes in Ruka-Kuusamo
Ruka-Kuusamo's network of gravel biking and touring routes includes 19 routes and over 900 kilometers of diverse cycling paths. These paths wind through fells, hills, lakes, and other natural wonders on gravel and sand roads. Along the way, you'll find wide gravel roads, narrower forest roads, and even some trails, as well as paved sections. The network takes cyclists to places like Oulanka National Park, Juuma, Kitkajärvi—Europe's largest spring—and even close to the Russian border. It showcases the stories and village life of Kuusamo.
The routes are designed so that cycling trips can conveniently start and end either in Ruka village or Kuusamo town center. These hubs are connected by two linking routes, and the villages of Käylä and Oivanki serve as additional nodes. The routes can be combined in various ways, ensuring that there is something suitable for everyone, from short evening rides to multi-day adventures, complete with diverse services and accommodation options.
