The ski tour to the Köllkuppe begins with the hut ascent to the Zufallhütte. Beautiful slopes alternate with flatter passages. The last few metres to the summit usually have to be tackled on foot.

The Dufourspitze, the highest peak in the Monterosa massif, is certainly the most sought-after summit from the Monterosa hut. Several crevasse and serac zones and a large transverse crevasse that is sometimes difficult to negotiate make the normal ski ascent via the Silbersattel high alpine and clearly dangerous in terms of crevasse falls. The climbing finale through the steep north couloir and over the exposed summit ridge completes a top-class alpine touring experience (with appropriate acclimatisation, good weather and snow conditions).
