My blog: http://www.cyclingwithantonie.blogspot.com     Arrived on may 21th 2014 at Vancouver Airport. Stayed 4 days in the Jericho Youth Hostel in Vancouver, then started my adventure.  Due to bad weather, had some delays on shedule the first days. From Hope to Allison Pass: some difficult slopes (up to 14%).  In Princeton on may 30th.  Through Kootenay Valley to Revelstoke.  Then further on along the Canadian Highway over the Rodgers Pass to Lake Louise.  On to Jasper over the Icefields Parkway and further over the Yellowhead Highway passing Prince George, Vanderhoof and Houston to Kitwanga where starts the +/- 725km Cassier Highway. At the end of the CH to the right to Watson Lake.  After 1 day of rest, over the Alaskan Highway to Whitehorse.  1 week rest. Then over the the Klondike Highway to Dawson City where I stayed for 3 days. The following stage was over the Top of the World Highway (170km) to the most northerly borderpoint with Alaska (July 9, 2014). From Chicken, Alaska (yes) over the Taylor Highway (gravel) back to the Alaskan Highway near Tok (July 11, 2014). Once again over the Alaskan Highway further on to Fairbanks (July 16, 2014).   Had some bad wheather during 2 days while visiting Denali NP. Then further on over the beautiful Denali Hwy to the Richardson Hwy and downwards towards Valdez (July 28, 2014). Took the ferry to Whittier to sail that evening on the MV Kennicott along the Inner Passage to Bellingham, WA, USA (Aug 2, 2014). Once in the US, after a day-trip to Seattle, WA, I followed the Pacific Coast Trail alongside the Washington and Oregaon coastline onto Florence, Oregon (Aug 11, 2014) where starts the eastbound Transamerican Trail. Eastwards to Eugene, OR, over the McKenzie Hwy to Sisters, OR. As it was too hot during mid-summer to cross the northern desert bassin , I prefered to follow the Sierra-Cascades route, which runs roughly parallel to the Pacific crest trail, over the Cascades Range southwards to Truckee, CA: plenty of forest, lakes and craters... Once in Truckee on Aug 26th, 2014 I left my bike behind and took the bus/train to Emeryville, CA, near the San Francisco bay. I visited San Francisco, CA during 2 days and then continued my trip from Truckee (sept 1st, 2014). Now it went eastwards following the Western (Pony) Express route over Highway 50, better known as 'America's loneliest road', and crossing the Nevada desert (sept 2-6th, 2014).  Past Milford, UT, I cycled to Torrey, UT, (Capitol Reef NP) and then followed the Western Express bicycle route onto Cedar City, UT, visiting Escalante Petrified Forest SP, Bryce Canyon NP and Zion NP. Cedar City, UT, is the starting point of the Grand Canyon Connector route: southwards through the southern section of Zion NP and to the north rim of the Grand Canyon (sept 18th, 2014). Then crossing the Colorado River and uphill to Grand Canyon Village, UT, and Ash Forks, AR.
