Finale Ligure offers a wide range of trails perfectly adapted to the needs of mountain bikers. They range from flowing single trails such as the Rollercoaster to technically demanding downhill routes such as the H Trail or that of the famous 24-hour race of the MTB Championships. Plus: the mountain bike season in Finale Ligure is very long, the trails are usually rideable as early as February and as late as November. Perfect conditions!
The best trails in Liguria
The elevation in the hinterland of Finale Ligure, on the summit of which lies the former NATO base, colourfully decorated with graffiti, is considered the stronghold of all trails. At the NATO base you will find creatively named descents such as the rather flowy Rollercoaster, the Toboga or more challenging descents such as H Trail and Base Nato Trail.
Finale has made a reputation for itself as a terrain for advanced bikers. But insiders know: There are also trails with S2 to a maximum of S3 at key points. The Rollercoaster is one such trail, as is the Crestino Part 1.
Trail areas in Liguria: Far more than just "BASE NATO"
There are several biking areas in the hinterland, all of which are served by shuttle services. A special feature in Finale: there are no lifts here, so if you want to get to the top, you have to pedal or book a shuttle.
Popular areas for mountain biking in Liguria are Mallare, Felingo, Melongo, Orco-Vezzi, Manie and Madonna della Guardia. The mountains are flowing and the trails are often trans-territorial.

Good to know about mountain biking in Liguria
Most apps and maps available on site divide the trails into difficulty levels according to colour. Since Finale is a pro area, it is best to always think one step „up“ when assessing. S2 trails can therefore have a well-known S3 level!
It is also important to bear in mind the hunting season in Liguria. It runs roughly from September to November, when many trails are closed to bikers on Wednesdays and Saturdays. As a rule, signs at the trailhead indicate this, but it is advisable to inquire about the current conditions at one of the bike shops or rental stations.
For those who want to concentrate fully on the trail descents, there is a shuttle service in Finale. Many providers in Finale Ligure, Finalborgo or Noli offer various transfer services. A one-way trip to the trailhead in the different regions costs between 12 and 20 euros, depending on the route. It is worthwhile to book a shuttle bus (7 to 12 people) for half a day, a whole day or several days with several bikers and thus share the costs.
